Applications opened Tuesday (January 6) for 150 full-time positions at the Obama Presidential Center as the long-anticipated campus prepares to open later this year on Chicago's South Side, per CBS News.

According to the Obama Foundation, the available roles span multiple departments, including visitor experience, visitor facilities management, and security. The hiring push is aimed at ensuring the center is fully staffed ahead of its expected June opening.

The foundation said it is prioritizing the hiring of Chicago residents and is partnering with several community-based workforce organizations to recruit applicants. Those partners include the Cara Collective, the North Lawndale Employment Network, Skills for Chicago, and the St. Sabina Employment Resource Center.

Former President Barack Obama personally encouraged applicants in a video released alongside the job announcement.

“When people come here, we want them to feel what makes the South Side so special — the mix of warmth and grit, the sense of humor that can brighten any day, the creativity that turns challenges into opportunities, and the joy that shows up on every block,” Obama said.

Interested applicants can find job listings and submit applications through the Obama Foundation’s website at obama.org/careers.

The 20-acre Obama Presidential Center campus is located in Jackson Park, near Lake Michigan and just south of the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry. The site features multiple buildings, landscaped gardens, playgrounds, and a 225-foot museum tower that will house exhibitions on Obama's presidency and broader themes of democracy, leadership, and civic engagement.

In December, Obama Foundation CEO Valerie Jarrett and Deputy Director Kim Patterson said the organization was on track for a June opening.
