A white man faced painful consequences after he was caught on video harassing several Black men in New York.
Viral video of the incident showed the man picking up plastic bags of trash and throwing them at two Black men on Canal Street. One of the victims retaliated against the man's harassment, punching the attacker several times on the sidewalk. The white man attempted to flee the scene before a second individual joined the confrontation, striking the attacker in the street.
Video of the incident, shared by TikTok user Andrey Tarasov on August 21, garnered thousands of views and comments that praised the men for fighting back against the harassment.
"Finally, I'm sick of seeing these where nobody does anything," one social media user wrote.
"I just LOVE those happy endings 🤣🤣," another person chimed in.
"Love it when people get what they're asking for 🙌🏾," a third person commented.
One witness told Atlanta Black Star that police responded to the scene and detained one of the Black men involved, prompting protests from the crowd.
“It was very uncomfortable because all of them started yelling at the officers, saying they had the wrong guy,” the witness said.
The man was later released, and the white man was reportedly taken to the hospital for treatment.
