Wendy Williams made a rare public appearance following claims that she had become "cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and legally incapacitated.”

On Thursday (December 19), Williams was spotted at her son Kevin Hunter Jr.’s graduation from Florida International University, according to a photo obtained by PEOPLE

Williams appeared alongside family members in a motorized scooter. The former daytime talk show host wore a sparkly dress, black boots, and large “W” necklace as she celebrated her son’s graduation.

William’s public appearance comes after her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, said the ex-tv host "has been afflicted by early-onset dementia and, as a result, has become cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated,” according to a new court filing.

Williams was diagnosed with aphasia and dementia in May 2023, roughly one year after a legal guardian was put in place to oversee her health and finances.

The new court filing came off the heels of Morrissey filing a lawsuit in February to stop Lifetime from releasing the "Where Is Wendy Williams?" documentary. The documentary showed Williams' struggles with alcohol, including a moment where she drank a whole bottle of vodka.

In the latest filing, Morrissey is requesting that the court redact parts of the case to protect William's health information, familial relationships, and finances.
