At least 10 people were killed at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York on Saturday (May 14) after a man carrying a rifle entered and opened fire, law enforcement sources reported.

The armed gunman entered the Tops Friendly Market located on Jefferson Avenue just after 2:30 p.m. and shot at least ten people, police sources told NBC News. According to multiple reports, the suspect was livestreaming the shooting on social media.

Officers responding to the shooting arrested the suspect at the scene, police sources said after stating the gunman was killed.

Sources revealed the gunman entered the grocery store wearing military-style clothing and some sort of body armor. Investigators are reportedly determining if the gunman posted a white supremacist manifesto online and whether the shooter was motivated by racist rhetoric.

The grocery store is located in a predominately Black neighborhood, just three miles north of downtown Buffalo.

At least two rifles were recovered from the scene, reports confirmed.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul tweeted in response to the shooting, stating that she's "closely monitoring" the situation.

"We have offered assistance to local officials. If you are in Buffalo, please avoid the area and follow guidance from law enforcement and local officials," the tweet reads.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
