Barack Obama Remembers Breaking Classmate's Nose After Being Called A Slur

Former President Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen have launched their own podcast and it is off to a fast start. In the show's second episode, the former President opened up about a childhood experience that has stuck with him for decades.

While shooting the breeze with the rock and roll icon, Obama began talking about the time he punched a classmate in the face and broke his nose. According to the former President, everything started to go awry during a game of basketball.

“Listen, when I was in school, I had a friend. We played basketball together,” Obama told Springsteen.

“And one time we got into a fight, and he called me a ----. Now, first of all, ain’t no ----- in Hawaii, right? It’s one of those things where he might not even have known what a ---- was. What he knew was, ‘I can hurt you by saying this.’”

As one could only imagine, the former U.S. Senator did not take too kindly to being called a racial slur by his classmate. Understandably, the bestselling author acted swiftly and let his classmate know that the use of that word would not be tolerated. In the words of comedian Redd Foxx, "There's not going to be many more -----, you hear?"

“I remember I popped him in the face and broke his nose, and we were in the locker room,” he explained.

“I explained to him—I said, ‘Don’t you ever call me something like that. I may be poor. I may be ignorant. I may be mean. I may be ugly. I may not like myself. I may be unhappy, but you know what I’m not? I’m not you.’”

In other words, former President Barack Obama is not here for the shenanigans.
