Kenya Barris And Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson Unite For A New Netflix Series

Kenya Barris and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson are teaming up to produce a new series at Netflix called The 50th Law. The new series is inspired by a semi-autobiographical written by Jackson and Robert Greene. Chronicling Jackson's rise to fame and journey through the streets of New York, the book also includes lessons he learned from Malcolm X, James Baldwin and several other historical figures. Barris Rothstein and Hale Rothstein have signed on to write the script and executive produce the series.

This is not the first time Kenya Barris has signed on to work with Netflix on a project. Most recently, he led the series, Black AF, with Rashida Jones. Beyond Netflix, he has helped put together the upcoming comedy, Coming 2 America. Not to mention, he continues to work on the Black-ish franchise that now includes Mixed-ish and Grown-ish.

Jackson is also building his name in the world of Hollywood. After putting together a legendary run in music, he has started a successful run in television. Most notably, he turned his hit series, Power, into a series of spin-offs featuring Michael Rainey Jr., Joey Bada$$, Larenz Tate, Lovie Simone and several other stars. He has also had a hand in the upcoming series, Black Mafia Family, on Starz. Adding on, he currently executive produces the series, For Life, on ABC.

Jackson and Barris have not worked together before, but their worlds have overlapped in the past. For Life, Mixed-ish and Black-ish share a home on ABC. Power star Rotimi is set to star in the upcoming film, Coming 2 America.

At this time, no casting decisions have been shared and there is no set release date.
