Mom Gets A Surprise When Her Five-Year-Old Puts On Her Mask

Living through the pandemic has many of us running back to get our masks like “Bruce Wayne” running to the BatMobile.

For Raena Granberry, she found out just how true this was after heading to the store with her daughter, Justice.

With the holiday season in full swing, Granberry decided to take a trip to Michael’s to get Christmas decorations.

Like many parents adjusting their get-out-of-the-house routines, Granberry asked her five-year-old daughter to grab her mask before they headed out.

Well, Justice did, but it was not exactly what Granberry had in mind.

Justice returned with a costume mask from The Mandalorian, the Star Wars series on Disney+.

Granberry posted the scene to Twitter, writing “I told my daughter to grab her mask so we can go to the store. This was the mask she grabbed.”

In a compromise, Granberry asked Justice to put a cloth mask underneath the costume, to which she agreed, although she prefers the Mandalorian mask.

“Let these kids be who they are. They’re gonna be that anyway, so the more you foster it and love them and let it be, the more awesome they get to be and shine for the world and make them happy,” Granberry said in an interview with BuzzFeed News

Justice also said her favorite Star Wars character is actually “Rey Skywalker” and that her whole family is into Star Wars

“She has a sword. She has a lightsaber, and she has this little robe around her costume so it can protect her. And she lives in the wild,” the kindergartener gushed. For Halloween this year, she dressed up as Rey, though the pandemic prevented her from trick-or-treating.

Granberry’s tweet has gone viral, receiving over 500,000 likes and thousands of comments, including one from Pedro Pascal, the actor who plays the main character in The Mandalorian and Daniel Logan who played the Mandalorian warrior "Boba Fett" in the movie Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones
