Popeyes Employee Arrested for Body-Slamming Customer

A Popeyes employee must've just finished eating his spinach after he found the strength to body-slam a female customer at one of the chicken chain's Tennessee locations last week. Deriance Ra’Shaiel Hughes was arrested this past Friday and charged with felony aggravated assault after he was caught on camera slamming 55-year-old Debra Staggs to the ground in the parking lot outside the restaurant. Their altercation reportedly started inside the store after Staggs claimed she was double-charged for her food and requested a refund. However, employees accused Staggs in another video of using the N-word, which prompted them to repeatedly ask her to leave. Staggs' lawyer says she suffered six cracked ribs and a broken knee. Meanwhile, Hughes has been fired. “It was uncalled for," a Popeyes store rep says. "Wasn’t no reason for that."
