Former rap mogul Suge Knight was sentenced to 28 years in prison on Thursday after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter last month. (He'd originally been charged with murder.) Terry Carter died in January 2015 after Knight backed over him with his truck on the set of the film Straight Outta Compton. Knight's intended target was longtime rival Cle "Bone" Sloan, who was wounded in the incident. As the AP notes, Knight was "one of the most important figures in the history of hip-hop." The Death Row Records co-founder peaked in the mid-'90s, putting out huge albums from the likes of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur. Incidentally, Shakur was in Knight's car on the night he was killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in 1996.
